      Is this digital recipe book tool free?
      Yes. Everything runs in your browser and there is no account, no paywall and no limit on how many recipe cards you build. The only thing sent anywhere is an anonymous, IP-free usage ping so we know the tool gets used, the same beacon every tool page on this site uses to track how much a widget actually gets touched.
      Does it save my recipes anywhere?
      No. The card is rebuilt from whatever is in the text fields right now. Nothing is uploaded or stored on a server, so closing the tab clears it. Download the .txt file or copy the text if you want to keep a recipe, the same way you'd save a note before closing a browser tab.
      Can I use this instead of Reel2Recipe's video parser?
      They solve different problems. This tool formats a recipe you already have, typed out from memory, copied from a cookbook, or pasted from anywhere. The video parser reads captions and transcripts from a Reel or TikTok and writes the ingredients and steps for you first, so the two tools work well back to back.
      Why do my checkmarks reset when I edit the ingredient list?
      The card rebuilds from the ingredient and step lines every time you type, so checked boxes are matched by line position, not by text. Add new lines at the bottom rather than in the middle if you want to keep your progress, or use Clear checkmarks and start a fresh cook.
      Does the recipe card work on a phone at the counter?
      Yes, the layout stacks into a single column under about 720px wide, and the checklists are built for tapping with a thumb, not a mouse. That was the whole point: a recipe you can actually read and check off one-handed while your other hand is covered in flour.
      Can I print the recipe card?
      Use your browser's print function on this page. For a cleaner printout, download the .txt version first and print that instead: it strips out the buttons and inputs and leaves only the title, servings, time, ingredients and steps.
      What happens if I leave servings or time blank?
      The card falls back to a sensible default, 4 servings or the last valid time, rather than showing a broken number, so the badges never break even with an empty field. Type over the default whenever you're ready.
      How is this different from a recipe app on my phone?
      A recipe app usually wants an account, syncing, and often a subscription for the good features. This is a single page: paste ingredients and steps, get a card, copy or download it, done. No install, no sign-up, works the same on any device with a browser.
